Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist · 20 years experience
After graduating from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne with a First Class Honours degree in Speech and Language Sciences in 2005, I worked in the NHS in London for 10 years as a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist.
In 2014 I set up my Independent practice to enable me to combine the work I love with raising my own two children. I have continued to develop my skills and expertise, most recently qualifying as a Sensory Integration Practitioner (PGCert) with Sheffield Hallam University.
I currently work as the Clinic Manager and Specialist Speech and Language Therapist at Growing Hope Farnham.
I am experienced in working with children of all ages but have specialised in working with those up to the age of 8 with:
Family-Centered, Evidence-Based and Fun
Speech, language and communication skills are key to every child's development; impacting their ability to express themselves, learn, form friendships and understand and interact with the world around them. I am a BBC Tiny Happy People Champion supporting early language development in families from birth.
Understanding of children's neurological development through their experiences guides my therapy. As a Sensory Integration Practitioner, my knowledge of how brains take in information through all our senses and processes and integrates this sensory information is foundational in my support of children.
Therapy should always be fun, motivating and relevant to a child's everyday life. My experience and research shows that intervention is most effective when it also includes those who are with the child every day.
As well as a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist I am a certified Sensory Integration Practitioner qualified to assess children's sensory processing and integration needs and provide Ayres Sensory Integration Therapy.
I am a Hanen® Certified Speech and Language Therapist – certified to deliver the More Than Words® Programme for parents of children with social communication difficulties and Autism. I am also fully PROMPT® trained (to Bridging Level).
Post-Graduate Training includes:
